Despite the fact that Nikos likes considering himself as a 'visitor' in the Opera world, he has worked as a choreoghrapher for productions in some of the most prestigious theatres and festivals in Italy and the rest of Europe including the Salzburg Festspiele, La Fenice in Venice, Arena di Verona, Zurich Opernhaus, Opera di Firenze, Kameroper of Vienna and Lubeck Theatre, collaborating with some of the most talented Stage Director such as Damiano Michieletto, Alessandro Tallevi, Francesco Michelli, Alberto Triola, Fabio Ceresa and Timothy Nelson.
His experience as a Mass Choreographer for Olympic Ceremonies and other Stadium Theatre Shows has definitely contributed into developing a very personal way in which he deals with mass cast, Choir, dancers, extras and large amount of cast in general.
In 2013 he debuted as a director for an Opera, at the festival of Valle D’Itria in Martina Franca in Italy. It was a world premier stage production of Maria di Venosa written by Francesco D'Avalos, and received outstanding reviews from the Italian press, including the one of Paolo Isotta from Corriere della Sera calling the direction of Lagousakos as genious.
In 2014 Lagousakos turned to Martina Franca where he conceived and directed a tribute show for the 40 years of the Festival Della Valle D’Itria.
He is a movement trainer for singers and actors and through that is known for creating detailed characters for the soloists in the productions he is involved with. He has given masterclasses of stage presence and kinesiology in various academies including The Nederlands Opera Studio and The Accademia del Bel Canto di Rodolfo Celetti in Martina Franca.
